It’s no secret that TripAdvisor is transforming the tourism industry. With over 200 million reviews generated each month, tourists are taking to TripAdvisor for more and more of their travel needs. In fact, travellers can now use TripAdvisor not only to read reviews about restaurants and resorts, but also to book their hotel stays with just a click of a button.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has recently partnered with TripAdvisor, adding the company’s long list of worldwide properties to TripAdvisor’s instant booking platform.
If you’re interested in making your mark on an exciting, international, and fast-paced field, hospitality training can position you for employment at the top level of tourism. An understanding of the industry’s biggest news events can also give you a competitive upper-hand on the employment field.
To get your career started with information on the industry, here’s a guide to the recent TripAdvisor and Starwood partnership.
Hospitality Management Program Students Ask: What’s an ‘Instant Booking Partnership’?
TripAdvisor’s new ‘Instant Booking’ option is a risk-free way for travellers to connect with TripAdvisor’s hotel partners. Hotels pay to have a ‘book now’ button on their TripAdvisor pages, instantly generating business and collecting useful guest data from TripAdvisor’s user profiles.
According to TripAdvisor’s own research data, its site receives over 350 million unique monthly visitors from users in 47 countries worldwide. Through the Instant Booking partnership, Starwood gains access to this massive global audience of potential guests.
“We are excited about an enhanced relationship with TripAdvisor as it allows us to deepen our touch-points with TripAdvisor’s global community of travelers,” explains Julie Atkinson, vice president of Starwood, Inc.
She says Starwood pages will feature ‘book now’ buttons on TripAdvisor.com sometime before July as the partnership details are settled.
TripAdvisor Taking Advantage of Starwood’s Major International Appeal
Starwood owns and operates an impressive selection of hotel brands, including the St. Regis, the Luxury Collection, Westin, Le Meridien, Four Points by Sheraton, Element and more.
Many hospitality management program grads work in hotels and hospitality properties run by Starwood. All in all, Starwood employs over 180,000 employees at more than 1,270 properties in about 100 countries worldwide. With your own hospitality training, you’ll be eligible for employment in your choice of exciting tourism destinations. In fact, there’s a high chance that you or one of your classmates will work for Starwood at some point throughout your career.
TripAdvisor chose to partner with Starwood precisely because of the large presence it has in the international tourism industry. “Adding Starwood’s robust brand offerings and acclaimed properties to our fast-growing instant booking platform provides the TripAdvisor community with even more choice and flexibility when booking travel,” explains TripAdvisor in a recent press release.
Trip Advisor to Handle Booking, Starwood to Handle Hospitality Business Management
While the Instant Booking partnership means big changes for how Starwood’s guests will make their reservations—making the booking process much faster and easier for TripAdvisor users around the world—it doesn’t change how the guests are handled once they book their stays.
TripAdvisor users booking Starwood stays online will be provided with links and phone numbers to contact the hotel’s hospitality business management department directly if they have any questions or concerns.
“All support inquiries will be handled by Starwood’s award-winning customer care team,” says Atkinson.
