A Christmas card with a penguin on it

Student Blog: In the Holiday Spirit at CTC by Laura Robins

Happy Holidays everyone!

With the holidays swiftly approaching we have been getting into the festive spirit here at the Vancouver campus. The halls have been decked, next it was our turn. We kicked off the festivities rocking our finest “ugly sweaters” and Christmas attire on “festive dress day”. It was a lot of fun seeing the different kinds of attire the students and staff came up with. We all had our photographs taken for a secret craft the staff had been planning for us for the following week.

During our last week of classes, we kept up with the festivities. The campus set up a food bank donation box which we happily over filled to help those in need over the holidays. The campus banded together to have a giant potluck lunch. When our tummies had been filled (there was sooo much food) we were treated to special performances from the Nursing, Flight Attendant and Hospitality students (who all did a great job). Carols were sung and laughs were had all around, finishing in a dance party before we returned to our studies.

The Travel and Tourism class had our final day on Wednesday December 13th. During class we had the opportunity to share our traditions and learn about other celebrations throughout the world. We were able to feel like kids again as we were given ornaments to craft by CTC. There were some that were sweet and others completely hilarious that were made while we sipped eggnog, laughed and enjoyed being in each other’s company. To finish our final day together until the new year we had a class secret Santa gift exchange, the perfect way to the end the day before departing to celebrate the holidays with our loved ones.

I hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating whatever it is you do and have a Happy New year!
