Instructor Blog: What to Expect from Business Classes at CTC Pt.1

As part of the curriculum of the Microsoft Office Business class, students are given the challenge of creating a small business in under ten days. It’s a daunting task and students often feel overwhelmed by the prospect of creating their first business.

Over the last two years students have truly risen to the occasion and accepted the challenge of creating new businesses. Business ideas have ranged from coffee shops, Hop on Hop Off Buses, Wine Tours, phone apps to house painting companies. The real challenge occurs when students have to present their ideas to the class during a 25-minute presentation.  For many this is the first time they have spoken in a public forum for more then 2 minutes. Their objective during the presentation is to convince their classmates and instructor to invest $100,000.00 in the start-up.

The Canadian Tourism College is very proud of each student who has participated in the Business Program. Alumni frequently come back to the college and speak to current students letting them know how valuable the business program was in preparing them for life after school.

To all future business students of the Canadian Tourism College, we look forward to hearing your amazing ideas very soon.
