If you’ve been following us on social media for a while or have visited our website recently, you probably know that we have an Open House coming up next week on Wednesday, October 24th. And we usually hold a session every 1-3 months. But what is an Open House anyway? Essentially, our Open House is an opportunity to find out if Canadian Tourism College is the right fit for you! Making the commitment to a post-secondary program and starting a new career is a big decision, and we want you to feel confident and excited about your choice to join us. Here is what to expect when you come to one of our Open Houses:
Do you need to register to attend? We do prefer that you register, but if you are not sure you can make it until the last minute, feel free to come by! We will not turn you away, everyone is welcome! You can come by yourself, with a friend, or with a family member. When you arrive, you will sign in with the front desk and be guided to where you need to be for the session.
What happens at the Open House?
You will have the opportunity to speak directly with instructors who teach the program you are most interested in. Current students or graduates may be present as well and will be happy to answer any questions you have. Discussing their personal experiences will be an excellent way to help you gauge whether the prospective career path is for you. Knowing the challenges and opportunities right from the get-go means you will be as prepared as possible. Your attendance also gives the faculty a chance to get to know you—your personality, interests and background. This will help them guide you to the program that will benefit you the most if you aren’t yet certain.
Next there will be a short presentation lead by one of our faculty. This presentation will go over what Canadian Tourism College is all about and will give you more information on student life, our alumni, and an overview of careers in travel and tourism.
Finally, you will go on a guided tour of the campus. Exploring the campus will add that extra level of comfort to our experience if you decide to attend. Your attendance at an Open House also gives you the opportunity to figure out your transportation options to and from the campus.
- Do a little bit of research before you attend and have some questions prepared. That way you can leave feeling like you got the most out of your visit.
- Do pre-register if you can. This will help us be best prepared for the event. Plus, signing up for an open house will ensure you are provided with any extra information you may need as the day approaches.
